Mangaluru: A three-day Vasanthotsava organised by Dr. K Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisargadhama got underway on June 3 to display the specialities of the season called “Vasantha.”
Former minister Abhay Chandra Jain inaugurated the event in the presence of Pilikula Nisarga Dhama Executive Director V Prasanna in the morning.
Different varieties of seasonal fruits, including mango, jackfruit, papaya, pineapple, wild fruits and the exclusive varieties from the coastal region will be on display at the three-day exhibition cum sale. Karnataka Fish Marketing Federation has also arranged for sale of fresh fish and fish delicacies during the event.
Savayava Krishi Grahaka Balaga, KMF Campco have arranged exhibition and sale of organic products and earthenware items. Tourism, Forest, Agriculture and Horticulture departments have also offered their support for the event.
Directors K V Rao, Dr. Jayaprakash Bhandary, officials from Campco, KMF, progressive farmers and others were present at the inaugural.
The exhibition aims to create awareness and educate modern youth on diverse varieties of local fruits and delicacies and also help farmers.
The exhibition is open for public from 10 am-6 pm on all the three days, where entry is free.
